HAAS® Alarm 193 — B AXIS DRIVE FAULT

What it means

The B axis (5th axis on a UMC, or secondary rotary) drive amplifier has reported a fault.

Common causes

  • Drive amplifier overheat or internal fault
  • Motor short or insulation failure
  • Power supply issue feeding the drive

What to check first

  • Note the alarm and any LED indicators on the drive
  • This is a service call — don't keep resetting through a drive fault

Prevention

Regular preventative maintenance — clean cabinet, working lube, sensible cutting parameters, and a habit of checking offsets before running — prevents most alarms before they happen.
