HAAS® Alarm 182 — X CABLE FAULT

What it means

The control has detected a problem with the X axis encoder or motor cable — it's seeing bad or missing feedback signals.

Common causes

  • Damaged, pinched or contaminated cable
  • Connector loose at motor or amplifier end
  • Coolant ingress into a connector
  • Cable nearing end of life on a high-cycle machine

What to check first

  • Power off, inspect the X cable along its full run
  • Check connectors at both ends for moisture or corrosion
  • If the cable looks fine, this is an engineer's job — diagnostic with a meter

Prevention

Regular preventative maintenance — clean cabinet, working lube, sensible cutting parameters, and a habit of checking offsets before running — prevents most alarms before they happen.
