HAAS® Alarm 111 — A SERVO OVERLOAD

What it means
Rotary (A axis) drawing too much current. Common with new fixturing that adds weight beyond what's been factored in.
Common causes
- Fixture or workpiece too heavy for the rotary
- Worm preload too tight after a service
- Brake not releasing fully before the index move
What to check first
- Confirm fixture/work weight is within the rotary's rating
- Check brake operation
- Reduce A axis feed/acceleration if running hard rotary moves
Prevention
Use constant-engagement toolpaths (adaptive or trochoidal) for roughing rather than full-width slotting. Don't ignore early warning signs like rising spindle load over a production run — that's usually a worn cutter loading the axes harder than it should. Keep way covers clean and the lube system topped up.
