HAAS® Regen Resistor Exchange & Repair
Break down today. Make it work again tomorrow.
We lend you a working regen resistor within 24 hours, fit it and prove the machine. You keep the loaner while we repair or replace yours — fixed pricing, same warranty as new.
What the regen resistor does
When the spindle brakes, the motor becomes a generator and pushes energy back into the drive. The regen resistor is where that energy goes to be burnt off as heat. It sits in the top of the cabinet with its own thermal switch, and when it fails the machine either throws alarm 122 or, worse, the vector drive absorbs the energy it can’t dump.
Signs it has failed
- Alarm 122 REGEN OVERHEAT, particularly after repeated spindle stops
- Alarm 119 OVERVOLTAGE during deceleration
- Spindle takes longer than it used to to stop
- Visible discolouration or a cracked ceramic element on the resistor bank
- Vector drive faults that appear alongside a regen alarm

Why they fail
Heavy duty cycles with lots of spindle stops, or a program that brakes the spindle from full speed every few seconds. The element cracks, the thermal switch fails, or the mounting insulation breaks down. It is cheap relative to a drive, which is exactly why we check it first on any regen or overvoltage alarm.

How Exchange & Repair works
- You call, we quote on the spot. Phone diagnosis to confirm the failed part. We tell you honestly whether we hold that unit, the fixed swap-in fee, and the fixed replacement price if yours can’t be repaired.
- We bring the part within 24 hours. An engineer arrives with the loaner, fits it, proves the machine and takes your original away. You’re cutting again the same day.
- You keep the loaner while we repair yours. Proper diagnosis at the bench, no time pressure. If we repair it, we swap back at your next service. If we can’t, you keep the loaner and pay the fixed replacement price you were quoted on day one.
Fixed pricing
One fixed swap-in fee plus a fixed price list for every replacement part, sent to you the moment you call. No hidden costs. If we repair your original, that’s all you pay.
Same warranty as a new HAAS® part
Every part we exchange carries the warranty HAAS Automation, Inc. gives on the equivalent new component — parts and labour, in writing, from the day we fit it.
