HAAS® Alarm 113 — SHUTTLE IN FAULT

What it means
On a side-mount tool changer, the shuttle (the arm that brings tools to the spindle) didn't reach its 'in' position within the time allowed.
Common causes
- Air pressure low — shuttle is air-driven
- Position switch dirty or failed (proximity sensor)
- Mechanical obstruction (chip or debris)
- Worn shuttle slide
What to check first
- Check air pressure
- Inspect the shuttle area for chips or coolant build-up
- Look at the prox switches — they often get knocked or contaminated
Prevention
Tool-changer faults are almost always either air pressure or chip contamination. Keep shop air at 85–100 psi clean and dry, and clear chips and coolant residue from the changer area weekly. On lathes, check turret lubrication monthly. If you have an intermittent fault that disappears when you reset, don't ignore it — book it in before it becomes a hard fail.
